Harnesses are the specialty of A.K.K.O. Sports:  Using our 30+ years of experience in the sport as competitors and outfitters, we can fit nearly any breed of dog, from 10 lbs and up!  We have designed harnesses for a range of breeds from Pekingese to Newfoundlands--in addition to the traditional sledding breeds--to maximize canine comfort while working.

A complete line of our well-tested models should meet your needs. Tell us what you need - we'll do our best to accommodate you!

Padding & webbing: All harnesses are well-padded with fleece; or closed cell foam with a fleece cover; or closed cell foam with a stretch fabric cover* - your choice.
 
 * Closed cell foam with a stretch fabric cover. We suggest this for high arctic work, or when moisture is a factor.
The fabric repels the snow, thus allowing the harness to dry quicker and retain less humidity.

Standard webbing is polypropylene, available in blue, red or black.

How should a harness fit?  Can you measure for a harness? Of course, but we have found from experience that it's not as easy as it seems. For those who wish to try, use the following pictures and then send us the measurements. Call if you need help with the measurements.  NOTE: We only need 1/2 the NECK circumference ('A' - 'C'), as shown in photo #2 below.

For those who prefer not to measure, we can help you with the following weight chart.  Find your dog's weight and select the harness model you want.  The column header gives  our tug cord color  which will be your dog's size.

COLLAR NECK DESIGNS:  for Sledding, bikejoring & SKIJORING

The NH Model:
 This model is the best fitting choice for Alaskan husky or border collie types with a slim build and small neck.
The collar-neck X-back is a favourite, particularly in the competitive sector where maximizing respiratory function is so important.

Hang to dry, or put in cool wash and wear dryer cycle.  Not for hot wash or hot dry.

"Loki" is raring to go!

 The JH Model:
An alternative model for skijoring. The skijor line attaches at the middle of the back instead of the tail region. The steeper angle to the skijor belt allows the harness to remain more centered on the dog. NEW! Padded with CCF covered with stretch fabric.

The SH Model:
The Standard X-back harness has stood the test of time!  It has been and continues to be a favorite... a great harness for dogs up to 55 lbs.

The FH Model:
An X-back harness with a broader chest plate and larger neck opening for  large sled dogs, as well as non-husky breeds: Labradors, Goldens, Rottweilers and Dobermans, etc, over 50 lbs.
An adjustability option is available, on the length only.  This model is made with heavier, black-coloured web only.

The BH Model:  For work on very narrow trails, this may be the best harness choice.  One or more dogs are attached single file, and the harness supplies its own gangline. The webbing is entirely padded. This BH model offers a low point of pull, so you can enjoy family fun and have your canine companion pull a small wagon, sled or toboggan. Adult supervision is recommended.
